Before the Roman Empire was established, conquering kings would take their captives back to their homeland and make them servants. The Roman Empire changed the game. They left the captives in their own homeland and caused them to adopt Roman culture and subjected them to Roman rule. The Kingdom of God took that to another level. Instead of the captives residing in the kingdom, the kingdom resides in them. This ushered in a new kingdom concept unrivaled by any earthly kingdom.
